How to Make Money while Exploring the World

Published on

#ContributedPost

If you’re a person who's infatuated by wanderlust, a monotonous routine of traveling back and forth to the same office every day can be slightly depressing.

You'll often find yourself gazing out of the window, wishing you were “out there” exploring everything the world has to offer.

For most people, a sedentary career seems like a necessity: it’s simply a way to make money so that they have the opportunity to travel during holiday breaks.

However, there are also certain careers where travel is a significant part of the package. You're able to visit many new places, and get paid for that very privilege.

So what are these coveted jobs? Let's explore.

Tour Guides

Tourists often don’t have the time or the desire to organize trips to famous landmarks. Instead, they prefer having someone else do all the legwork for them, so that they can relax and enjoy their time away.

Tour guides get to live in foreign countries and often stay near some of the most beautiful places in the world, in order to take tourists around these incredible places.

To land a job as a tour operator, all you typically need is proficiency in the English language and the desire to learn.

Of course, you'll still have to work set hours. However, those hours will fly by as you enjoy experiencing distant locations all over the world.

Truck Drivers

Truck drivers, especially those in the US, spend a lot of time in the wilderness as they make their way from state to state.

Each job is different for many truck drivers, allowing them to enjoy a new part of the country each day they’re behind the wheel.

As a truckie, you’ll get to explore places that few people see outside of the city and take stunning highway routes through mountains and forests.

To become a commercial truck driver, you'll need to get certified through an accredited school.

What are the top truck driving schools? Good question.

Try checking with the Department of Motor Vehicles, or do your own research. Most schools will have you up and running as a truck driver in under six weeks.

Become An Au Pair

Au pairs look after children and assist families in their day-to-day activities.

Parents often seek out foreign au pairs who can introduce their children to different languages. Language students can also benefit by spending time with native families.

Although you may not have a great deal of free time, being an au pair allows you to fully immerse yourself in another culture. You'll enjoy teaching children how to speak a new language, and receive a modest salary throughout all of the fun.

The explosion in the popularity of blogging has led to the creation of a new job: the travel writer

Previously, paid travel writing opportunities were limited to people working for major news organizations. However, it's now something that practically anybody can do - as long as their blog has a significant audience and reach.

When you become a successful travel blogger, you're able to make money through advertising. You'll need to be equipped with a decent camera, as well as enough interest to provide the necessary income for traveling all over the world.
